The history of cyber security is really interesting. It probably started in 1971 when BBN developer Bob Thomas created and deployed a virus that served as a security test. It wasn’t malicious, but it did highlight the vulnerabilities and security flaws of the “Internet”. The company BBN Technologies (originally Bolt, Beranek and Newman) was a high-technology company, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which played an extremely important role in the development of packet switching networks (including the ARPANET and the Internet).
